WHAT IS A CHAMBER OF COMMERCE?

A Chamber of Commerce is an action agency designed to meet the community's needs. The Victor Valley Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary organization of individuals and businesses who band together to advance the commercial, financial, industrial and civic interests of Victorville. It is a community resource clearinghouse, a public relations counselor, a legislative advocate, and an information and promotion medium.

WHO RUNS THE CHAMBER?

A volunteer Board of Directors sets policy for the Chamber. The policies are implemented by the President/CEO and a paid staff.

HOW DOES A CHAMBER WORK?

Committees are the backbone of the Chamber. They accomplish the organization's Goals and Objectives. The needs of the community and the policies of the Chamber determine the number and kinds of these action groups.

WHAT DOES A CHAMBER DO?

The Victor Valley Chamber's large membership base allows the organization to offer services and benefits to support both large and small businesses. Some of these benefits include networking opportunities, relocation assistance, legislative advocacy, seminars, and workshops, as well as tourism and community promotion. In addition, the chamber gives hundreds of referrals for member businesses each month to help foster business growth and retention.

WHO PAYS FOR THE CHAMBER?

The Victor Valley Chamber of Commerce is a private, non-profit 501 c(6) organization that is funded by membership dues and three annual fundraisers. It is not a part of any government entity.

CAN I FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE CHAMBER REGARDING BUSINESS?

The Victor Valley Chamber of Commerce does not function as a regulatory agency. Therefore, we do not log complaints or take action against businesses. Chamber membership is strictly voluntary.

CAN YOU TELL ME IF A BUSINESS EXISTS IN VICTORVILLE?

We can tell you about a business if they are a member of the Victor Valley Chamber of Commerce. If not, and they are not in the telephone book, the business license department at the City of Victorville (760-955-5072) can tell you if they have a license to do business in Victorville.

WHAT IS SCLA?

Southern California Logistics Airport or SCLA, is located at the former George Air Force Base. It serves as a cargo airport and business park. They can be accessed through, www.sclaa.org and www.victorvillecity.com
